Submissions Guidelines

TMS 2021 announces the call for submissions to the virtual conference to be held November 3-5, 2021. The deadline for all submissions has been extended to May 28, 2021 at 11:59 p.m. ET.

Types of Submissions

Papers: Authors of accepted papers will be asked to describe their research in a 15-minute pre-recorded presentation that will be available either on-demand or during a scheduled session at the TMS 2021 conference. Authors will have the opportunity to interact with attendees interested in their work through chat and other functions.

Symposia: Authors of accepted symposia will be asked to organize 3-4 individual but related papers into a one-hour pre-recorded presentation that will be available either on demand or during a scheduled session at the TMS 2021 conference. Authors and presenters will have the opportunity to interact with attendees interested in their work through chat and other functions.

Posters: Authors of accepted posters will have the opportunity to upload a copy of their poster to the virtual conference platform and engage in dialogue with attendees who are interested in their work through chat and other functions.

TMS Review Process

All submissions will undergo rigorous peer review. At least three members of the interdisciplinary program review committee will review submissions for papers, symposia, and posters. The submission and its reviews will then be evaluated by a member of the senior program committee serving as a meta-reviewer who will make a recommendation of inclusion or exclusion. The conference program organizer will make the final determination.

The reviews will be double-blind so all submissions must be anonymized.

TMS 2021 Conference Proceedings

TMS 2021 will produce an archival conference proceedings. All work published in the conference proceedings must be original contributions that have not been published or presented elsewhere. Accepted submissions will be published under a CC-BY-NC-ND license and archived on the APA Open platform. Publications will be assigned a digital object identifier (DOI).

Once a submission is accepted for the conference and for publication in the conference proceedings, authors will have 2-3 weeks to complete a camera-ready copy that responds to reviewers’ concerns, conforms to a provided template, and includes all author names and affiliations.

Acknowledging that different scientific disciplines have different norms on publishing in conference proceedings, authors of accepted papers may select to only publish the abstract of their accepted submission. Symposia will be published as a collection of abstracts of the individual presentations. Posters will be published as abstracts only.

If a submission for a paper or poster is accepted, at least one author must register for the conference in order for it to be included in the conference program and proceedings.  For accepted symposium proposals, all named speakers must register for the conference in order for the proposal to be included in the program and proceedings.
